New Hope Groups in a Refugee Camp

In a remote place in North Africa, one woman continues to form New Hope groups. She even traveled to a refugee camp a few hours from her home to talk to the women there. When she came home and told her husband about the response, her husband said, “Teach me New Hope, too. I need to go with you and start groups with the men in the camp.”

Please pray specifically that this couple would be able to travel together to start groups among these hurting refugees.

Sharing the Good News in Refugee Camps

In another remote, desert area, a group continues to enter refugee camps daily, sharing the Good News of Jesus as they bring medical care to refugees. They find new believers in unlikely places.

“I have had dreams of a man dressed in white. I think maybe you can tell me about Him.”

“I have seen Jesus in my dreams. Now I follow Him just like you do!”

Jesus has already found them!

These precious people have seen terrible things happen to their cities and to their families. They don’t know how long they will live in tents in the desert; their home cities are still not safe places to be.

The New Hope participants have already begun entering the camps with a new perspective. Now they ask people questions about themselves… and they simply listen. They might ask a question like “How do you feel?” or “What is the worst part of that for you?” But that’s all—they simply listen to the stories of pain that no one else has ever listened to.

Many have gone into the camps to take care of physical needs, but few have stopped to listen to individual stories of the shame and horror. The New Hope participants say that just asking those simple questions and listening has opened many doors to relationships that they didn’t have before.
